Rio Maravilha

Rio Maravilha sits on the top floor of LX Factory, the old industrial complex under the 25 de Abril bridge that has become Lisbon's design-and-brunch district. The view is the reason it exists: the bridge fills most of the frame, the river runs underneath it, and there is a statue on the terrace with its arms out toward Cristo Rei on the far bank, which is either a nice joke or a very good photograph depending on your mood.

The cooking has a Brazilian accent — feijoada, moqueca-adjacent fish dishes, plenty of things designed to be eaten with a drink in the other hand. It is decent rather than remarkable, and the kitchen is clearly aware that most people are here for the terrace. The cocktails are the stronger half of the offer and the caipirinhas are made properly.

The move is late afternoon into sunset. Get there before the light goes, take a table on the terrace rather than inside, order drinks and a few things to share, and stay while the bridge lights come on. As an evening it is hard to beat for the money.

Honest notes: it is very busy at sunset and the terrace tables are first-come in practice, so early arrival matters more than a booking. The food is priced above its quality because of where you are sitting. And LX Factory itself is now firmly a destination rather than a discovery, with the crowds to match. Come for the view, the drinks and the light, and set your expectations for the plate accordingly.
